Fabric related Easter Projects

The other year we put up a post with various Easter projects (see it here), and loved them so much we thought we better make another one.

Silk-Dyed Eggs
Gorgeous colourful eggs dyed with silk ties. There's also a tutorial linked at the end on how to blow out eggs so you can use them as hanging ornaments.

Fabric Easter Eggs
The one I'm definitely going to make this year!

New in our Etsy shop!

We have started our Etsy shop up again and have some exciting products already listed!
Here's an overview of all the awesome shinys that have been added in the last week.

Vintage Zips!
Here's one I'm really excited about. We managed to get our hands on only a few of these zips which we believe are from the 60's, most are chunky zips and one open ended jacket zip.
All have a large circle zip pull, and bright stripey colours!

Slightly stretchy, this velour has a low nap and is covered in fireworks and stars.

This polyester  has gorgeous orange tones. Displaying a palm tree print, it makes you feel like you're looking at some isolated paradise island.

This see-through chiffon that has an indian inspired pattern of flowers and paisley prints in various mauves, oranges, pinks and reds highlighted with yellow.

This would have to be my favourite of the week. The pattern displays a lovely range of earthy brown and red tones, and we only have 1.7m left!

Which is your favourite?

Slash Inspiration

Welcome to a new week!
This week I'm doing a bit of slash inspiration, because there's nothing better than getting old clothes that are sitting in your wardrobe doing nothing, ripping them up and making something new and totally gorgeous!

So without further ado, here are links to three tutorials to inspire you this week. (Click on each image to visit the tutorial.)

We're Back!

Yes, we're back!
After a bit of a break we've filled out stash so much again we need to get rid of some more...

We'll be back posting every week again, and have started up an Instagram account (it's a bit bare at the moment, but will fill quickly!), you can find us there at @altfabrics We have discontinued on other social media platforms so you will only be able to find us here on our blog, Instagram and selling on Etsy.

Excited about starting the blog up again, so many things we've found to share!

Patterns galore!

The other week a huge delivery of patterns from 1970's to now turned up! We’ve slowly been working our way through them taking photos, writing descriptions and listing them over both Etsy and Craftumi.

New and old patterns

At the moment there are 20 listed on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/altfabrics?section_id=11074206 and 8 listed on Craftumi http://www.craftumi.com.au/altfabrics covering vintage and baby/children’s clothing, and more will be listed over the weekend and next week.
There are a few in particular we would love to point out, the first is this cute little toddler hat on Craftumi http://www.craftumi.com.au/detail.asp?id=59764 they’re so cute!

Today I love ~ Crazy cat lady skirt

Cute and fun! I love cats, if I had this skirt I would probably sit down and look at it for hours.
Although I don't think I'd go as far as naming them all... I'm not totally crazy ("yet" was said from the other room when I was reading this to Christine)

This skirt is on the VamosThreads Etsy store here
